Why ORSEM?
ORSEM is a required program for all new students of Xavier Ateneo. It aims to introduce incoming students to the mission, vision, and inner workings of the university.
The orientation is an opportunity for students to learn how things work in Xavier Ateneo, most especially the Flexible Learning set-up which will be implemented this academic year.
Attendance will be recorded not upon login but after completion of all the requirements during the 2-day program. Compliance is a must and will be the student's ticket to claim the University ID and Student Handbook during the Cautious Return to On-Campus Learning.
What is the mode of delivery?
All sessions of the 2-day ORSEM will be carried out online. The required info-sessions will be conducted via XU eLearn. Only new students can access this platform.
Live shows will be streamed via the official Facebook account of XU (@XavierAteneoOfficial) and the official ORSEM Facebook page (@XUORSEMNow). The live shows are accessible to new students and the general public.
What comprises the online sessions?
Live Info-Sessions. The live info-sessions are composed of lectures covering the most essential topics that students need in college. After every topic, there will be a pop quiz which students need to answer in order to gain credit for attendance in a given topic. Students need to get perfect scores (100%) for all the quizzes in order to earn attendance. There are 4 topics, 4 quizzes, and 4 required attendance for each day. Live info-sessions will run from10:00 am to 11:15 am only.
Live Shows. Simultaneous with the info-sessions is the live talk show which will be streamed on Facebook and on XU eLearn. New students may only watch/participate in the show outside of the required info-sessions (i.e. from 9:00 am to 10:00 am and from 11:15 am to 12:00 nn only). On Day 2, new students can watch the online talent expo at 12:00 nn either via XU eLearn or Facebook.
Off-Session Contents. Apart from the topics which will be delivered during the live info-sessions, there are other beneficial topics which students may access after the live sessions (i.e. after 12:00 nn). These include videos and downloadable materials for off-line reading. However, access to these contents will only be allowed after completing all the lectures and quizzes for each day. Once access is gained to the off-session contents, students may view them at their own time.
Are the sessions simultaneous?
Yes. Students need to perform the online activities simultaneously from 10:00 am to 11:15 am. Login on XU eLearn at 9:00 am for the preliminary activities and start navigating the site at 10:00 am for the required topics.
Topics and quizzes may only be accessed at the prescribed time. Afterwards, the links will be disabled.
How to access XU eLearn?
Visit www.xu.edu.ph/orsem2020 and click the “Info-sessions” tab on the menu. This will automatically direct to the XU eLearn login page. Enter login credentials and click “Login. Login credentials (i.e. username and password) will be sent via email.
