Level 1
At the end of first year, the student should have acquired an understanding and awareness of self and others in the context of health, illness and disease.
The student will be able to:
- Gain understanding of the individual and/or group’s biological, psychological, socio-cultural and spiritual environment in relation to health, illness and disease.
- Identify the various roles the individual will play as a member of the family, community and society.
- Recognize the individual’s role in improving the quality of one’s life and others.
- Demonstrate skills in critical thinking, problem solving and reflective thinking.
- Apply the scientific method to one’s daily situation.
- Express one’s feelings and ideas effectively.
- Develop sensitivity to other people’s needs.
- Make decisions according to Christian values and principles.
Level II
At the end of the second year, the student is expected to have acquired a holistic understanding of man as a biological, psychological, socio-cultural, ethico-moral and spiritual being, focusing on the concepts of health.
The student will be able to:
- Analyze the factors contributing to the health and well being of the individual, family and community.
- Acquire knowledge of the nursing history and his/her role as a prospective member of the nursing profession and community.
- Acquire knowledge of modern technology as applied to health care.
- Perform beginning skills in utilizing the nursing process involving health care to healthy individual, family and community.
- Show awareness of the legal responsibilities of the nursing professional.
- Communicate effectively with clients and other members of the health team.
- Appreciate man as a biological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual being.
- Appreciate ethico-moral values in health care practice.
Level III
At the end of the third year, the student is expected to have acquired a wider concept of health and illness from the biological, psychological, socio-cultural, ethico-moral and spiritual perspectives.
The student will be able to:
- Analyze the biological, psychological, socio-cultural ethicomoral and spiritual factors in relation to the occurrence of illness.
- Relate to patient care the pathophysiological psychopath logical changes brought about by illness.
- Utilize the nursing process with increasing skills in the promotive, preventive, curative, restorative and rehabilitative care of sick clients, family and community.
- Communicate effectively with clients and their families, members of the health team and allied professionals.
- Utilize different coping strategies to enable clients, family and community to handle crisis situations.
- Demonstrate leadership potentials and beginning manage rial skills in various learning situations.
- Apply beginning knowledge and skills in research, statis tics and modern technology in the clinical setting.
Level IV
At the end of the fourth year, the student is expected to have acquired the skills, knowledge and attitude to begin professional practice independently and/or collaboratively.
The student will be able to:
- Implement comprehensive plan of care to any client in any given setting.
- Apply management concepts and critical thinking skills In various situations.
- Demonstrate skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for compassionate, committed and competent professional nursing practice.
- Show leadership skills in working independently and collaboratively with members of the health team, the family, and the community.
- Conduct nursing research.
- Utilize results of research studies to improve health care.
