Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan is committed to the attainment and sustainability of a strong research culture among faculty and students, and promotes high quality research that is conducted at a high level of academic rigor and carried out to high ethical standards. Faculty, students and third parties undertaking research at, on behalf of, or in collaboration with Xavier Ateneo are expected to share the same commitment, and to respect the dignity, rights and safety of research subjects, collaborating researchers, and communities they work with.
The Research Ethics Office (REO) ensures that research conducted by Xavier Ateneo students, faculty, and staff complies with government regulations and institutional policies. Consisting of the Research Ethics Board (REB), which reviews research involving human participants and human subjects, and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), which reviews studies involving vertebrate animals, the REO provides support for and administration of all aspects of the ethics review and approval process for research involving human participants and research, teaching and testing involving vertebrate animals. The Xavier Ateneo REO operates under the Dean for Research.
