The Research Ethics Office (REO), created in 2018 provides support for the administration of all aspects of the ethics review and approval process for research involving human participants and research, teaching and testing involving vertebrate animals.
The REO ensures that research conducted by Xavier Ateneo students, faculty and staff, complies with government regulations and institutional policies. Consisting of the Research Ethics Board (REB), which reviews research involving human participants and human subjects, and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), which reviews studies involving vertebrate animals.
Faculty, students and third parties undertaking research at, on behalf of, or in collaboration with Xavier Ateneo are expected to share the same commitment, and to respect the dignity, rights and safety of research subjects, collaborating researchers, and communities they work with.
The REO is comprised of the following:
- Research Ethics Board (REB), which reviews research involving human participants and human subjects; and the
b. Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), which reviews studies involving vertebrate animals.
