Research Grants and eligibility

1. INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH (IR) AWARD

The IR award will provide grants of Php 20,000.00 up to Php 75,000.00 each (or as per discretion of the University President, upon the recommendation of the Dean for Research) to fund research projects that are relevant to improve the University’s policies and programs, and/or enhance teaching and learning systems and processes (e.g., in terms of learning environment, curriculum design, student assessment, etc.).

IR projects shall be undertaken by:
⦁ a full-time regular higher education faculty member, who is a holder of at least a master’s degree; or
⦁ a team of two (2) to three (3) full-time regular faculty members, who are holders of at least a master’s degree.

2. MIGUEL BERNAD HUMANITIES RESEARCH (MBHR) AWARD

The MBHR award will provide grants of up to Php 80,000 each to fund research projects in scholarly, creative, and artistic pursuits in the humanities, i.e. the languages, literatures, philosophy, history, law, politics, religion, art, and music. Research should be focused on

⦁ the body of works of the late scholar, Miguel A Bernad, SJ and/or
⦁ relevant issues that will help propel the Mindanaoan consciousness.

MBHR projects shall be undertaken by:

⦁ a full-time regular higher education faculty member, who is a holder of at least a master’s degree;
⦁ a team of two (2) to three (3) full-time regular faculty members, who are holders of at least a master’s degree.

3. MINDANAO RESEARCH (MR) AWARD

The MR award will provide support of Php 400,000.00 up to Php 2,000,000.00 each (or as per discretion of the University President, upon the recommendation of the Dean for Research) for research projects that addresses issues in Mindanao, aligned to the University Research Agenda. These projects will be funded by the University or in partnership with an external funder or sponsor. Research projects may be multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, or transdisciplinary in nature. The MR must consist of at least two (2) component projects. The MR award may be granted for a maximum of three (3) years.

MR projects shall be undertaken by

⦁ a research team composed of full-time regular faculty members, with at least a master’s degree from at least two (2) disciplines;
⦁ only full-time regular higher education faculty members, who are holders of a doctorate degree and have completed at least two (2) researches, may serve as principal investigators or program leaders.

4.  MATTEO RICCI RESEARCH (MRR) AWARD

The MRR award will provide support of up to Php 200,000.00 each for research projects that are aligned to the Xavier Ateneo Research Agenda.

⦁ a full-time regular higher education faculty member, who is a holder of at least a master’s degree; or
⦁ a team of two (2) to three (3) full-time regular faculty members, who are holders of at least a master’s degree.
