Rationale

Recognizing that research is an integral part of academic life, Xavier Ateneo continues to engage in research activities this year amid the conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the protection of the health and well being of its faculty, research staff, student researchers, and human participants, take utmost importance. Appropriate measures and guidelines for research need to be in place to adapt to this requirement and new normal.

In the context and challenges being felt by Xavier Ateneo as it adopts Flexible Learning this academic year 2020-2021, the conduct of research in the University is expected to go in these directions:

  1. To as much as possible convert research activities to remote or online work;
  2. To modify research methods and analysis to what are achievable during this time of the pandemic and the foreseeable future.

Effectivity

Due to the possible shifting and unpredictable pronouncements of community quarantine status in the locality and within the period of the academic year, the DURATION of this guideline is, at the very least, the whole of academic year 2020-2021. The provisions of this interim guidelines shall be in effect until further notice and a new memo is given .
