True to its academic ethos of evidence-based practice, Xavier Ateneo applies the same rigor to its sustainability efforts. On March 22, 2023, the university’s Social Development Cluster and Administration Cluster signed an agreement enabling mechanical and electrical engineering students to conduct a comprehensive energy audit of all main campus buildings.
Through the university’s Service-Learning Program, students consolidate and analyze data on energy usage, identify areas of wastage, and develop actionable recommendations for improvement. Their findings are presented to relevant administrative units, ensuring that proposed solutions are grounded in real-world data. This partnership between academic learning and operational management not only enhances campus efficiency but also provides students with invaluable hands-on experience in sustainable engineering practices.
