Today, SEARSOLIN continues the work and mission of its founder, Fr. Masterson. The institute is responding to the needs of the development sector of the region, tapping the expertise of Xavier University- Ateneo de Cagayan. It is offering the following:
- Certificate programs on local governance and leadership, resource rights and governance, disaster risk management, food security, social entrepreneurship, project management and monitoring
- Customized trainings in coordination with development programs
- It has 50 years of experience in training rural leaders, and has produced 2000 graduates from 59 countries around the world.
- It is located in the island of Mindanao in the Philippines, the melting pot of different ethnic cultures and religions (18 ethno-linguistic tribes of Indigenous peoples and 13 ethno-linguistic tribes of the Bangsa Moro People and settlers.) Mindanao is home to a vast biodiversity. It is a hub for development, with a strategic location ideal for business.

Development Communication is a 4-year program designed to train and form responsible and ethical practitioners in the field. It aims to produce graduates who:
- Have contextualized the concepts and theories of Development Communication as it applies to his/her chosen career, such as public and corporate communication/information officer, communication researcher/analyst, communication/media planner and manager, program/project development officer, public relations and advertising practitioners, media practitioners, learning system designers, multimedia designers, etc.
- Are proficient in the design, production, and evaluation of development communication campaigns, and in the use of information and communication technology for development projects.
- Manifest outstanding interpersonal and participatory communication skills in upholding professional ethics and standards and in the practice of social responsibility at all times.
- Are actively engaged in meaningful communication research that answers the communication needs of Mindanao and Asia.
