In a groundbreaking initiative funded by the Erasmus Plus program of the European Commission, the geoDRR project aims to revolutionize the field of Geomatics for Disaster Risk Reduction (geoDRR). As part of this project, an exciting series of Educational Workshops and a Transnational Meeting have been scheduled from 22 to 26 January 2024.

Kicking off this transformative event is an opening program on 22 January, at 9:00 AM, to be held at the Xavier University Little Theater. The opening program will witness the convergence of European project partners from Poland, Spain, Greece, and Luxembourg, along with our Asian partners from Cambodia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. This unique gathering aims to promote an environment of knowledge-sharing, collaboration and networking among experts and practitioners from Europe and Asia in the fields of geomatics and disaster risk reduction and management. Local key players and stakeholders are also invited to the opening program such as the CHED Regional Office 10, the Disaster Risk Reduction Management Department of Cagayan de Oro City, the Council of Deans for Engineering Education of Region 10, XU faculty members and students.

The week-long event will delve into various aspects of geoDRR, encompassing workshops, discussions, practical applications, and a field visit.  Participants can expect to gain valuable insights, experiences, and expertise from renowned professionals in Geomatics for Disaster Risk Reduction. Their wealth of knowledge will help shape and elevate the geoDRR project, ensuring its effectiveness in mitigating the impact of natural disasters.

As one of the Asian partners, Xavier Ateneo is honored to host this event for the geoDRR project. For more information about the project, please visit the official website at https://geodrr.eu/.
