May is National Heritage Month

Theme: Roots and Horizons. Shared Heritage. Our Collective Future.

This month is our time to listen to the stories that shape who we are. From the work of our ancestors to the traditions we carry to the spaces that hold our memories, our heritage continues through us and the next generation.

This National Heritage Month, we are reminded that heritage is shared and living. It grows through our actions, our choices, and our participation as a community.

At Xavier University, this commitment is made concrete through the recognition of eight heritage buildings on the current campus. These spaces are not only structures. They are witnesses to our history, our formation, and our identity as a community. They remind us that heritage is part of our daily life.

This May, take part. Visit a heritage site. Learn from elders. Support artists. Celebrate with your community. In doing so, we honor where we come from and help shape where we are going.

Our heritage and our story continue because we choose to carry them and pass them on to the next generation.
