Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan, through its DevCom Department, will host Panagtagbo 2026: Communicating Across Difference, Place, and Power in Mindanao from 5 to 6 June 2026, bringing together communication scholars, educators, and students, media practitioners from across the Philippines.
Organized in partnership with the Philippine Association of Communication Educators (PACE), Panagtagbo 2026 serves as one of the official regional hubs of the 76th Annual Conference of the International Communication Association (ICA), the world's largest academic association dedicated to communication research.
Derived from the Bisaya word panagtagbo (convergence or encounter), the event seeks to create meaningful conversations between global communication scholarship and local realities. Participants will engage in live and curated ICA conference sessions, cross-hub dialogues with fellow Asian regional hubs, mentoring conversations, paper presentations, and a special Mindanao Plenary featuring distinguished voices from the region.
The conference highlights Xavier University’s continuing commitment to internationalization, academic excellence, and meaningful engagement with pressing social issues. By hosting Panagtagbo 2026, XU strengthens its role as a center for dialogue and knowledge exchange that bridges local experiences and global conversations.
