In 1649, the Kagay-anons chose St Augustine as their patron saint, inspired by their deep reverence for the first parish priest, the Augustinian Fray Agustin "El Frayle Capitan" de San Pedro, who also celebrated the first fiesta.

Since then, the Kagay-anons have celebrated the fiesta as a joyous occasion filled with religious fervor and communal spirit. This annual event not only memorializes the rich cultural heritage of Cagayan de Oro City but also highlights its ongoing progress and development. It showcases the unique beauty and warm hospitality of the Kagay-anons, bringing the community together in a vibrant display of tradition and pride.

The city fiesta is a testament to the enduring legacy of the Kagay-anons' faith and cultural heritage. It serves as both a celebration of heritage and a reflection of the city’s dynamic spirit, uniting the Kagay-anons having a shared sense of unity and progress.

08262024.Web National Heroes Day

Today, we pay tribute to our heroes whose courage and sacrifices forged the Philippines into the nation we know today. From the revolutionaries who sparked the Philippine Revolutions in 1896 and 1898, to the selfless patriots who fought in the Philippine-American War and World War II, their sacrifices paved the way for our freedom. Their inspiring legacy transcends the battlefield, inspiring generations of Filipinos to strive for a better future.

Let us honor their memory by living our lives with integrity, compassion, and a commitment to serving our nation. May their stories continue to inspire future generations to strive for excellence and make a positive impact on the Philippines and the world.
