Xavier Ateneo’s Department of Economics conducted training on Kobo Tool Box among key officials of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional 10 Office on Tuesday, July 2 at the Apple Tree Resort.

Kobo Tool is a new generation tool for field data collection, commonly used in challenging environments. This tool is important for DILG in collecting data, consolidation, processing, and formulating presentations in the dashboard for projects in the local government units that are subject for their monitoring.

The training was spearheaded by junior faculty of Economics, Analisa G Trillo. She was assisted by assistant professors Caroline Laarni R Serenas and Marichu M Obedencio. Serenas serves as the chairperson of Xavier Ateneo Economics, while Obedencio is the assistant dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.

Participants of this training included personnel from Support to Local Government Program - Regional Program Coordination Team (SLGP-RCPT), who will be using this online software for the anticipated surveys and data collection that involve civil society organizations (CSOs). Other participants were the coordinators and anchor persons of the programs under the Local Government Capacity Development Division (LGCDD) of DILG Regional Office 10.

Xavier Ateneo Economics will offer new and exciting short courses in applied economics, this school year. Announcements to follow.∎
