In Cagayan de Oro City, known as "The City of Golden Friendship," varsity players from Ateneo de Davao, Ateneo de Zamboanga, Ateneo de Naga, Ateneo de Manila, and Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan will come together to showcase their athletic prowess and build a strong camaraderie.
Xavier Ateneo is this year's host of the Jesuit Athletic Meet (JAM), a gathering of sports teams from different Ateneo schools in the Philippines, bearing the theme "AteneYOU: Embodying Ignatian Values through Sports."
JAM will officially open on November 27 at the XU Gymnasium, in line also with the opening of the highly-anticipated XU Festival Days 2019, with the theme "XU is YOU!"
The participating Atenean athletes are set to arrive in CDO on Nov 26, to be welcomed by the athletics officers of Xavier Ateneo.
Former XU coach Arvin Martinez told SunStar CDO that “JAM is very interesting for the [XU] Crusaders because it was in this event that John Paul Erram was discovered and who is now a player in the Philippine Basketball Association (original text translated from Binisaya to English)."
JAM serves as a scouting event for professional sports teams in the country to attract the best emerging athletes.
