Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan has successfully secured funding for two (2) grant projects from the United Board for Christian Higher Education in Asia as part of their Whole Person Education Digital Content Development Grant opportunity.
As announced in an e-mail from the United Board on July 3, the university’s proposed projects: "Self-Directed Learning (SDL): An Educational Animated Video Series" and "Learning Data Privacy Through Game-Based Systems" will each receive US$12,500 (over Php 600,000) for its implementation.
SDL: An Educational Animated Video Series will focus on creating a series of five 2-minute animated educational videos with the Self-Directed Learning (SDL) and the Whole Person Education (WPE) areas integrated exemplifying the Action/Application value of the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm (IPP).
"I am looking forward to the journey of integrating these concepts and the benefits this can give to the students as they are guided towards being self-directed responsible learners," Dr. Kathleen Morales, project lead and Assistant to the VP for Higher Education for Curriculum and Instruction, said.
Meanwhile, the Learning Data Privacy Through Game-Based Systems project will focus on fostering the learning experiences of students in understanding the topic of Data Privacy and its regulations with the use of game-based technology.
Dr. Meldie Apag, Dean of the College of Computer Studies and lead of the project expressed her excitement saying, "With this project, we look forward to contributing to the enhancement of the quality of education by providing an engaging and innovative platform for our teachers and students.”
"This grant espouses Xavier Ateneo’s desire to unwaveringly provide the best possible whole person support for learners and teachers by helping cultivate the teaching and learning efficacy expected among stakeholders by the direction of the current educational landscape," Dr. Juliet Dalagan, VP for Higher Education said. "This opportunity to develop and use a set of encouraging, culturally enriching, and supportive digital educational content allows Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan to carry on its mission to serve beyond borders," she continued.
