Computer Studies Student Council (CSSC)

For decades, scientists and experts have been spreading the word of a remarkable tool, proven to have tremendous effects on the human brain—music. The wonders it does to improve the individual’s mental health and well-being are nothing short of magical. Anchored on this belief, the Magic Music Fest, spearheaded by the Computer Studies Student Council, was a project aimed towards integrating its purpose of promoting mental wellness through music with the College of Computer Studies’ mission of cultivating social awareness and involvement. The four-day long event was as fun as it was versatile.

One of the traits that made the project stand out was its multifacetedness, having been shaped and strengthened by achieving three objectives. The first objective was part of the council’s efforts to raise awareness on the alarmingly increasing mental health issues during the pandemic, a prevalent problem amongst the Filipino youth. The second was to provide entertainment to the students within the college through a series of fun-filled gimmicks and activities. And, the last was to hold an online concert to raise funds for the children of sikad drivers in the city, which was done in partnership with Tabang Sikad. The project not only inculcated a sense of social responsibility among and beyond the college community, but it also did what it came to do in the first place: to move people with music. With an audience of 200, The Magic Music Fest has indeed lived up to its name.
