Council of Nursing Students (CONUS)

The centuries-old Japanese art of paper folding, Origami, is believed to symbolize a multitude of things: success, good fortune, hope, and healing during challenging times. The paper bridge, in particular, is said to be an emblem of strength. The same can be said about the Council of Nursing Students (CONUS) with their donation drive, Paper Bridges. The global health crisis created disparities in the education system of the communities in Misamis Oriental. Resources were scarce, making the shift to modular learning increasingly difficult for students and teachers alike. The team had worked relentlessly towards bridging those gaps since the inception of the project’s first initiative, A Ream for A Child’s Dream, last September 2020.

The student body then launched the second initiative, Letters of Love, in October 2020, in celebration of the annual World Teachers’ Day. Letters of love and appreciation were collected online, printed out, and given to the beloved faculty and staff of the XU College of Nursing. With Paper Bridges, the council’s sense of community and family grew and solidified their mission of “advocating proactivity, social responsibility, and sensitivity.”— the epitome of true strength and, thus, the very essence of Magis.
