Ateneo Diplomatic Corps (ADC)

As the world progresses towards a more equal and inclusive society, the need to understand a woman’s role in nation-building has never been more pronounced.  In honor of International Women’s Day, the Women in Nation Building initiative was launched by the Ateneo Diplomatic Corps (ADC), in partnership with the local government units of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City, the US Embassy of the Philippines, and the American Corner.

In recognition of the crucial role that women play in building stronger democracies, the initiative was done through a limited face-to-face setting in Iligan and a livestream on Facebook. Attended not only by women from the community but also by women from local government units, the event gave the participants an avenue to share their stories, lobby for issues that affect their communities, and learn from champions of women empowerment and peacebuilding.
