Sexuality and sexual health are incredibly complex topics, filled with dimensions that span the entirety of a person’s life. It goes beyond just sexual relationships, involving a person’s sexual rights, search for identity, relationships, and intimacy. Despite the premium role it plays in a person’s life, open conversations about sexual health are still treated as taboo. In recognition of this gap, the Department of Mission and Social Involvement arm of the Central Student Government launched Tough Conversations: A Discussion Series of Sexual Health.

Tough Conversations provides an avenue where adolescents and young adults can learn about sexuality in a safe, non-discriminatory environment. It provides a sexual education platform where pressing issues pertaining to sexual health (sexual rights, the concept of consent, avoiding unwanted pregnancies) are openly discussed. By inviting health practitioners and sexual health advocates, Tough Conversations is able to address the topic of sexual health holistically, providing not only technical information, but also an analysis of the social and cultural aspects of sexual education.
