Last March 14, 2022, the Memorandum of Agreement for the Learning, Apprenticeship & Mentorship through Dynamic Atenean Guidance (LAMDAG) internship program was inked, kicking off the partnership of three Jesuit universities, Ateneo de Manila University, Ateneo de Zamboanga University and Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan.
The ceremonial signing via Zoom was attended by the Presidents of the three Ateneos, Fr. Roberto Yap (ADMU), Fr. Karel San Juan (ADZU) and Fr. Mars Tan (XU). The academic officials of the Ateneo Basic Education Departments headed by the OIC Mr. Jay Nicdao were also present and joined by ADZU Vice President for Higher Education, Fr Rene C Tacastacas, SJ, Xavier Ateneo Vice President for Higher Education Dr. Juliet Dalagan and the Dean of XU School of Education Edralin Manla.

Fr Mars in his speech lauded the program especially because it strengthened the collaboration and partnership among the three Ateneo schools. He was happy and grateful that the XU School of Education was given this valuable opportunity. “Although, this is the very first time for XU-SOE to have this Virtual Internship Program collaboration with Ateneo de Manila Basic Education, I am confident that this will be a productive and fruitful partnership for both institutions.”
The program is considered a milestone for the three universities, this being the first and seen to provide a richer experience to the Pre-Service Teachers (PSTs). The Internship Program provides work experiences to XU and ADZU Pre-Service Teachers (PSTs) to broaden their opportunities to acquire technical and life skills, knowledge, attitudes and competencies while being exposed to ADMU Basic Education work. The program provides the student teachers a variety of learning contexts and experiences to prepare them for the real world of teaching.
