With the easing of government guidelines on pandemic restrictions, Xavier University Grade School  was able to organize First Holy Communion for its pupils. With more than 3 months of preparations, candidates for First Communion were prepared to receive the Body of Christ through a series of Catechism sessions, orientations, and rehearsals. All of which were held online through MS Teams platform.


To limit the number of individuals in the University Church and to allow social distancing, the First Communion rites were celebrated in seven batches. The first three batches were Grade 4 first communicants who received the First Communion on the 26th of February. Fourth to sixth batches were the Grade 3 first communicants who received the First Communion on the 12th of March.

A special first communion Mass was held last March 18 at XUGS Chapel for a mixed group of Grades 3 to 7 first communicants.


Jesuit priests from Xavier University Loyola House Jesuit Community took turns in celebrating the Eucharistic celebrations and in administering Communion for the first communicants. It was the first face-to-face event organized by the school for its pupils to cater their spiritual needs and to allow them to fully participate in Masses.
