Organized by Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan, through its Student Social Involvement and Advocacy Program (SSIAP) in close coordination with the Central Student Government Office of the Vice President (XU-CSG OVP), Pag-ila 2022 aims to provide an opportunity for the constituents to know more about their locality’s future leaders through a live discourse to be held at the Little Theater of Xavier University. Pag-ila 2022 will be aired live on Parasat Cable TV’s Channel 24, and live-streamed on the Facebook pages of Parasat HD and Rappler.

Yesterday’s press briefing was facilitated by Mr Uriel Quilinging of the CDO Press Club and featured as panelists Atty Rowell Valledor, City Comelec Officer, Police Major Evan Viñas, spokesperson of the City Police Office, Nestor Banuag Jr, XU (SSIAP)/Namfrel/Lihuk 2022 Movement Lead Convener (SSIAP), Ivan Jay Lagunero, Pag-ila 2022 External Affairs Director, Rebekah Dalagan, Project Head, and Keziah Mallorca for NAMFREL CDO.

The panelists took turns in addressing the questions from the media including the possibility of allowing supporters to be at the forum. “Using as basis what we did in 2019, the forum will be by invitation only. This is also to be fair since some candidates may not have that big number of supporters like the rest” Mr Banuag clarified.

The live fora will be divided into four schedules: April 6 for CDO’s city councilors, April 13 for CDO’s district representatives, April 20 for CDO’s vice mayor and mayor, and April 23 for Misamis Oriental’s vice governor and governor. “Here in Pag-ila 2022, we aim to inform, encourage, and empower the youth of Cagayan de Oro to engage in political discourse for the future of our very own city.” Ms Dalagan mentioned.

The event will offer the candidates a non-partisan avenue where they can share their future plans and goals for their localities as well as their positions on certain important matters that concern the constituents.

The organizers are hoping all the candidates they have invited will heed the call of meeting the public and being known by them through Pag-ila 2022.
