On April 6, 2022, Pag-ila 2022 pioneered its first live forum at Xavier University- Ateneo de Cagayan, Little Theater to introduce the running councilors for districts 1 and 2 in the city of Cagayan de Oro for the upcoming 2022 elections. The forum was divided into two parts: the morning session was allocated for the 28 candidates of District 1 and the afternoon session was allocated for the 32 candidates of District 2.

At exactly 9:00 am, Pag-ila's live forum yesterday officially started with the welcome message from Ms. Irene Grace Guitarte, the Xavier Ateneo’s Vice President for Mission and Ministry, followed by the opening remarks of Atty. Rowell Valledor, the Cagayan de Oro Commission on Elections Officer. Prior to the forum proper, all the candidates were given 2 minutes to introduce themselves to the public and state their plans and platforms for the city. The moderator, Ms. Grapesy Itum, facilitated the forum in which 5 questions, prepared by the Research Team, were answered by the local aspirants. Before ending the forum, both the candidates and voters recited their pledge for clean and honest elections. 

 

At 1:00 pm, the afternoon session began with the welcome message delivered by Mr. Andre Robert Daba, the Xavier Ateneo’s Central Student Government  (CSG) Executive President, followed by the opening remarks of Mr. Nestor Banuag Jr, the NAMFREL and Lihuk Movement 2022 lead convener. Another set of questions was given to the second district councilors where they were given 90 seconds to answer. The pledge for clean and honest elections concluded the event.

The first Pag-ila 2022 forum was indeed a success and the organizers expressed gratitude to all the candidates, partners, and participants who joined the event.  The organizers also wish to acknowledge also forum’s host, Ms. Kyla Gabrielle Tuto, Mr. Adam Emmanuel Guanzon as reactor, and the Pag-ila 2022 co-project head, Ms. Farah Cassion for gracing the event. The next forum is set next week, April 13, 2022 from 1:00-4:00 PM for Cagayan de Oro District Representatives.
