In celebration of the 72nd Anniversary of Cagayan de Oro City’s Charter Day, Xavier University- Ateneo de Cagayan was among the honoree Institutions during its Pahinungod: Tribute to Partners event at the Emerald Ballrooms of Limketkai Luxe Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City on 15 June 2022.

Xavier University was represented by Fr Mars P. Tan, SJ, President and Mr Roel R. Ravanera, Vice President for Social Development, who received the award from Mayor Oscar S. Moreno.

Also present were Engr. Dexter Lo and Engr. Anabel Abuzo who have been actively involved in some of the City’s projects with Xavier University under the administration of Mayor Moreno, namely: (1) 2022-2030: Creation of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan; (2) 2019 to present: Leadership for Resilient LGUs (in collaboration with the National Resilience Council); (3) 2021: CDO Business Area Service Response and Recovery Plan; (4) 2020: Web-based Geospatial Risk Database for COVID-19 pandemic, and (5) 2019-2022: Transportation and Environment Engineering Team Research Application.

The celebration was a tribute to the institutions that made part in the Cagayan de Oro’s recognition as a consistent placer in the Philippines’ top 10 Most Competitive Highly Urbanized Cities, and the core city of the country’s fourth and newest economic center: Metropolitan Cagayan de Oro.

Mayor Moreno profusely thanked all the honoree institutions as he also wished more successes and greater development for the city under the new administration.
