Xavier University President Fr Mars P. Tan SJ, accompanied by XU Vice President for Social Development Engr Dexter S. Lo, met the newly-elected Cagayan de Oro City Mayor  Rolando “Klarex” A. Uy for the first time on August 5, 2022.

Fr. Mars assured Mayor Klarex of XU’s role in providing quality education for the city and the region. He also committed to sustain many of the university’s collaborative works with the city through the various programs and projects of the Social Development Cluster.

Meantime, Mayor Klarex shared this vision saying that this is aligned to his administration’s thrust on participatory development. He is also grateful that XU will continue to work with the city on various societal challenges.

In a light moment, both leaders quipped that their Chinese ancestry demands hard work to achieve success, and to always consider the wellbeing of future generations.
