The paper “Storm Water Management Modelling and AHP Selection of Flood Mitigation Measures: the Case of Carmen Catchment, Cagayan de Oro City” of EnP/Engr Jefferson R Vallente Jr, faculty of the Civil Engineering Department, and CE alumni Jose Andrew Villarosa, Jasper Ho, Yotsakorn C Sia, and Vincent L Wong was awarded the Best Paper: Oral Presentation for Water-related Disasters Category in the 1st International Conference on Interdisciplinary Water Studies (iWatCon) on November 10-11, 2022 held via Zoom.

EnP/Engr Jefferson R. Vallente Jr., faculty from the College of Engineering – Civil Engineering Department  receives Certificate of Recognition from 1st International Conference on Interdisciplinary Water Studies (iWatCon).

With the theme “Reimagining Water Future: Connecting the Visible and Invisible,” iWatCon22 serves as an avenue for local, regional, and international exchange of insights, knowledge, and practices on sustainable water resources management to reimagine the future of water, benchmark the invisible, and link the invisible and visible. The conference was attended by international and local researchers from Japan, Hungary, Norway, and the Philippines with research interest on Water. The event was organized by the UP Interdisciplinary Studies Center for Water of UPLB and co-sponsored by DOST-PCAARRD, SEAMO-SEARCA, and BPIT.

Another paper, “Estimation of Mean Annual Soil Loss of the Tagoloan River Basin using the RUSLE Model,” authored by Civil Engineering faculty EnP/Engr Jefferson R Vallente Jr and alumni Viene Xielo Pearl B Dagaraga, Kryztyll Jydd Medrano, Mary Grace L Mosquito, and Beanne Wil Angelo L. Salino was also presented in the Water Resource Assessment session.
