Following a succession of topnotchers in the board exams in 2022 and early 2023, Xavier Ateneo earned top spots anew in the recent Physicians Licensure Examination and Mechanical Engineers Licensure Examination which were conducted in various testing centers across the Philippines.

Zedric O Ortiz placed number 7 among the top 10 examinees of the March 2023 Physicians Licensure Examination with an 87% rating. He graduated from the Xavier University-Dr Jose P Rizal School of Medicine in 2020. Xavier University posted an overall performance rating of 81.40%. Meantime, for schools with 50 or more examinees, the University of Santo Tomas is the only top performing school with an 83.61% passing rate or 51 out of 61 passed the exam.

Karl Andree B Olaivar made it to the top 10 as well as he placed 10th with a 92.65% rating in the February 2023 Mechanical Engineers Licensure Examination. He graduated from XU in 2022. In this exam, XU posted an overall performance rating of 77.42%. The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines-CDO took the number 1 rank among the top performing schools with a 100% rate or all 44 examinees passing the exam.

XU Pres Fr Mars P Tan SJ welcomed the good news saying, “I am very happy for our board passers, and XU is particularly proud of our two topnotchers, Dr Zedric O Ortiz and Engr Karl Andree B Olaivar. To all our new engineers and doctors, be grateful and be proud of your achievement and practice your profession always in the spirit of Magis, to serve God and humanity.”

Dr Myra Maria V Peralta, Dean of XUJPRSM, also lauds Dr Ortiz’ achievement. “For and on behalf of the XUJPRSM Administration, faculty, NTS, and students, my heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Zedrik Ortiz. And our deep gratitude for the honor he has brought to our school and the privilege of being part of his academic journey to becoming an extension of God’s healing ministry.”

Dr Peralta says that Dr Ortiz was a consistent honor student of the XUJPR School of Medicine ranking 6th among the 100 graduates when he graduated in July 2020. “His success was result of a lot of sacrifices. Dr. Zed’s 7th place in the March 2023 PLE will show to everyone that he can be a true source of inspiration and that hard work will always pay off in life.”
