Awardees representing different organizations and causes graced the stage for the 17th Magis Awards at the XU Covered Courts on 3rd July 2023.

Embodying the theme, “Going All In,” an exciting lineup of performances opened the night, followed by a message from University President Fr Mars Tan SJ. 

The first set of the program highlighted the 24 Exemplar Awardees who brought honor to the university by receiving national or international recognition from other institutions.

With four finalists in the Best Project Award category, the Meal Aid Allowance bagged the Fr William Nicholson SJ Campus Project Award. Behind the scenes, an HIV and AIDS testing and counseling campaign won the Fr William Masterson SJ Community Project Award. The online campaign, More Than a Woman, won the Fr Francisco Madigan SJ New Project Award.

After the first two sets of awards, Lenie Veronilla, JP Santos, and Arianne Alvarez serenaded the night’s Leadership Songs and Stories.

The next set of awards started with conferring the St. Jean de Brebeuf Athlete of the Year to Karate-savant Christine Cabrejas. 

Dux Gregis Awardees Chester Cotacte for E-Tukod, Moner Ramos-Datu for KNALedge Ranaw, and Emmanuel Cababarros for the Blue Carbon Project followed with passionate speeches underscoring their advocacies.

After the individual and project awards, they honored the St. Ignatius of Loyola Outstanding Organization awardees. The XU Junior Institute of Accountants (XU-JPIA) bested others to become an Outstanding Co-curricular Organization. Xavier Debate Circle (XDC) secured the Outstanding Extra-Curricular Organization award. The School of Business and Management Student Council (SBMSC) made history when it snatched the Outstanding College Council award for the first time.

Finally, Shilina Golez, outgoing CSG president, was named AMDG Outstanding Student Leader.

The 17th Magis Awards wrapped up with its powerful array of performers singing “All In.”
