Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation, Toyota Motor Philippines Foundation, Inc and Toyota Cagayan de Oro City, Inc inked a deal with Xavier University (XU) for the donation of automotive tools and signages to XU’s Center for Integrated Technologies (CIT).

The donation consisted of assorted hand tools, digital multi-testers, and specialized tools designed for the repair and service of automobiles. Toyota signages and posters were handed over to XU CIT as well.

Toyota collaborates with XU to produce topnotch technicians for Toyota dealership. Through the donation, Toyota hopes to share what is being taught in the main Toyota manufacturing plant with the students.

“We want XU CIT students to learn the Toyota way,” said Ronald Gaspar, Coordinating Manager and Education Sector head of Toyota Motor Philippines Foundation, Inc.

Toyota has been a strong partner of XU CIT, providing students with scholarship, internship and job opportunities. Currently, the company supports four XU CIT scholars, and possibly student internship at the Toyota plant in Laguna.

Besides the hardware, Engr Erwin Li, XU CIT director, remarked that Toyota’s more valuable contribution is their “input on how we are going to teach our students” not just in building up their skills but also in developing the right attitude and work ethics.

Further, XU President Fr Jose Ramon Villarin, SJ emphasized that the goal of the partnership between Toyota and XU is to form not just competent technicians but people with values.
