US Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Leslie A Bassett graced Xavier University on Sept 17, 2010 to meet with XU President Fr Jose Ramon T Villarin SJ, and Fulbright and US program scholars.

Ms Bassett was welcomed by Library Director Estrella Cabudoy and Academic Vice President Dr Lina Kwong. 

The Deputy Ambassador was in XU to discuss about global education, peace advocacy in Mindanao, US assistance, among others.

Xavier University has an existing partnership with the US Embassay that is the American Corner situated at the second floor of the main library building.

Ms Bassett with XU faculty who are grantees of US scholarships talking about projects implemented by the American Corner. One project that caught Ms Bassett's interest was storytelling to street children.
