Scholars of Xavier University gathered for a night of fun at the Scholar’s Night dubbed “Breaking Boundaries: From Books and Beyond” held on March 2, 2011 at the XU Covered Courts.

The event aimed to provide a venue for the scholars to relax and let their hair down. “Ang mga scholar, dili lang maayo sa study-study. Pati pud sa party-party [Scholars are not only good in studying but also in partying],” local TV host and emcee for the night Maxine Monasterio said. Monasterio is also a scholar of XU.

The scholars participated in various contests showcasing their talents in singing, dancing and video making. In line with the affair’s goal of entertainment, every one of the contestants went home with a prize.

The overall fun atmosphere took a serious turn when the year level representatives presented to XU President Fr Jose Ramon Villarin, S.J.  the money pooled by the scholars to be donated to the XU Scholarship Foundation, as their way of giving back to the foundation that has supported them.

To the scholars, Fr. Jett remarked, “Please have fun. Please study, but please have fun.”
