Renowned musician and social advocate, Noel Cabangon filled the XU Gym with his brand of music during a concert dubbed, “Himig Nasyonalismo” on February 18.

The musical and advocacy concert is in line with Xavier University Kristohanong Katilingban sa Pagpakabana-Social Involvement Office’s (KKP-SIO) 25th anniversary, which carried the theme of nationalism. The musical concert was pursued in partnership with the Research and Social Outreach Office, the First Year Formation Program, Xavier Center for Culture and the Arts, and Volunteers for Community Outreach and Resource Development.

“Kay ganda ng musika…ito ay atin, sariling atin,” crooned Noel Cabangon. Apart from songs that espouse his advocacies on nationalism, human rights, eradicating corruption and environment conservation, he also gave the audience singles such as “Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko,” “Kandungan” and “Tuloy Pa Rin.” He finished the concert singing “Bayan Ko” and “Panaginip” respectively.

With its 25th year celebration, KKP-SIO hopes to promote community service and love of country through engaging activities like Cabangon’s concert and other community engagements.
