The Cagayan de Oro River Basin Management Council (CDORBMC) composed of Xavier University McKeough Marine Center, Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 10 (DENR-10), and the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro, among other member institutions gathered for a meeting last February 18, at XU.

Committee on Environment chairman Councilor President Elipe graced the conference which was attended by representatives from the regional offices of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of the Interior and Local Government, National Economic Development Authority, Department of Public Works and Highways; Liceo de Cagayan University, non-government organizations Abag Kalambuan, Inc and Samdhana Institute, and other institutions from the public and private sectors.

The meeting specified the roles and functions of each committee or Technical Working Group (TWG) and continued the discussions from their previous meeting last January 21, 2011. These TWGs were tasked on rehabilitation, resource management, local governance and community development. Proposals of each TWG were presented after.

CDORBMC was organized to meet the need to protect, rehabilitate, and manage the Cagayan de Oro River, with Archbishop Ledesma S.J., D.D. as its chairman and DENR-10 Regional Executive Director Edilberto S. Buiser as co-chairman. Dr. Ma. Cecilia Ferolin facilitated the meeting.
