The Development Communication Department of the College of Agriculture will host the 2nd Quisumbing Escandor Film Festival for Health Film Screening Event on Feb 16, 2011 from 9am to 12nn at the XU Little Theater. This film showing forms part of the DEVCOM WEEK Celebration.

The QUISUMBING-ESCANDOR FILM FESTIVAL (QEFF) FOR HEALTH is an acclaimed nationwide film-making competition that innovatively promotes health awareness through the visual power of Cinema. In 2008, the 1st QEFF with its theme “Malayo sa bituka…” sparked proactive campaigns for health reform and propelled the organizers, the Mu Sigma Phi Fraternity of the U.P. College of Medicine, to become among the 2008 National Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations of the Philippines (TAYO).

This February 2011, the Mu Sigma Phi Fraternity together with its partner institutions embark on another landmark endeavor with the 2nd Quisumbing Escandor Film Festival for Health’s “Sa ngalan ng ama, ng anak at ng ina” this time focusing on maternal, child, and reproductive health. These partner institutions are one with the Mu Sigma Phi and the whole healthcare community in pursuing the goal of health advocacy and reform. This also casts the spotlight on Maternal and Child Health. As our reproductive health statistics and indicators persist below the Millennium Development Goals for 2015 and our own Reproductive Health Bill continues to make the headlines, QEFF is poised as an innovative and timely venue for health awareness, discussion, and action.
