Students of the Kristohanong Katilingban sa Pagpakabana–Social Involvement Office (KKP-SIO) with the Central Student Government sounded their bullhorn and waved placards crying out for truth in staunch support for Heidi Medoza and other whistleblowers who have exposed corruption in the military.

The rally on February 8 was the first of what will be a series of peaceful protests to raise awareness and civic participation against corruption in the government.

Mendoza, former state auditor, alleged before the House and the Senate that misappropriation and malversation of funds occurred in the Armed Forces of the Philippines during retired Major General Carlos Garcia’s term as comptroller.

“We want to encourage the community to keep watch and be updated on the progress of the investigations,” said Nestor Banuag Jr., a faculty program officer of the Social Advocacy and Linkages of KKP. “We want to see movement in the justice system.”

Prior to the noise barrage, a Walk for Truth and Justice around the campus took place last Saturday involving some NSTP students and their friends. KKP is also using social networking sites like Facebook to spread the advocacy.

Another noise barrage and candle lighting will be held at 6 pm on Thursday, Feb 10. KKP is calling on the support of organizations and individuals to advance the search for truth and justice. Passing motorists are encouraged to show their support by blowing their horn during the rally.
