DSWD Field Office-X honors Xavier Ateneo with the “Salamat Po Award” for providing life-changing scholarships to underprivileged Senior High School students.

Xavier Ateneo in partnership with the Gotianun Family is providing full scholarship with free board and lodging to vocational technology students of Andrew L Gotianun Sr Center for Integrated Technologies (ALGCIT). At present, ALGCIT has 160 scholars coming from Misamis Oriental, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Caraga, and Zamboanga. The ALGCIT students are enrolled in Machining, Instrumentation, and Mechatronics programs.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office–X headed by Regional Director Ramel F Jamen, states the reason why Xavier Ateneo is honored with the Award.  DSWD commends the XU-ALGCIT for “providing life-changing scholarships to underprivileged Senior High School students, ensuring access to quality instruction, Jesuit formation, and comprehensive academic community, and on-the-job experiences with full coverage of tuition, matriculation, medical tests, and other associated fees”.

The Award is a testament of the generosity of the Gotianun Family which donated the school buildings, dormitory, sports facilities, and provided the scholarships and other needs of the ALGCIT students, the hard work of SHS and ALGCIT administrators, faculty, dormitory personnel, and staff, and the support of our partner institutions such as the DSWD.
