Xavier University officially opened its newest building at the XU main campus, the Magis Student Complex, on Aug 15, Feast of Our Lady’s Assumption. Former University President Fr Jose Ramon Villarin SJ presided the rite of blessing.

The three-storey building houses the new University Cafeteria, Magis Atrium, XU Bookstore, and Faculty Lounge on the ground floor; Office of Student Affairs, Loyola Conference Room and Faber Student Leaders’ Hall on the second floor; and Magis Roof Deck, which will serve as a venue for future University events, on the third floor.

“I hope we will direct our magis to God,” said Fr Villarin during his homily. “When we direct our magis to God’s greater glory and his people, excellence will just follow.”
