The Office of Mission and Ministry organized a faculty and staff colloquium on January 6 to attend to the psychological needs of personnel and students directly and indirectly affected by typhoon Sendong.
The activity also aimed to prepare faculty and staff as they gradually return to regular work activities and equip them with basic skills in debriefing students or in identifying symptoms of students who may need more professional help.

715 of XU’s faculty and staff formed small groups where they shared their experiences during and in the wake of the typhoon. Plenary sessions were also held on topics such as basic counseling skills by Psychology Department Chair Dr Mary Rachelle Wapaño, and "Transforming Victims to Survivors," given by Dr Imelda Batar, chair of the Psychiatry Department at Medical City.

XU President Fr Bobby Yap, through Skype, gave his input on holding alternative classes, in which students are encouraged to share their Sendong stories to help them process and cope with their experiences, during the first week of school post-Sendong and after the Christmas break.

The colloquium ended with a healing mass to foster a spirit of support, promote unity and strengthen resolve to extend aid to those who have been affected.
