Former finance undersecretary and current CEO of Synergeia Foundation Inc, Dr Milwida Guevara, will deliver the commencement address Friday at the Academic Convocation of the 73rd Xavier University Commencement Exercises.

Guevara will also be receiving an Honorary Doctorate in the Humanities.  She is known for both her government and non-government work. As finance undersecretary during the Ramos administration, she brought to the country four years of budgetary surplus. She is also recognized for her efforts in the Comprehensive Tax Reform Program.

Her work at Synergeia Foundation, an organization dedicated to giving Filipino students greater access to education, involves bringing educational reforms to public schools by linking government with the private sector. To date, her organization has served over 250 municipalities nationwide.

Other awardees at the Convocation will be Archbishop Antonio Ledesma SJ DD for the Fr William F Masterson SJ Award, and the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (Pontificio Istituto Missioni Estere) for the Archbishop Santiago TG Hayes SJ Award.
