XU was recognized as having the best American Corner (AC) among the 14 ACs established in the country based on the number of local programs implemented and the number of patrons using social networking sites to access AC resources.

Further, Ms Athena Jabonga-Jaca, XU-AC staff, was recognized by the US Embassy as one of the most tech-savvy AC personnel. This is the first time that the US Embassy in Manila gave such distinction to a library staff.

The awarding ceremony was held during the 2012 American Corners conference on May 30. Director Reyza Alenzuela of the US Embassy Manila graced the occasion.

AC is a program of the Thomas Jefferson Information Center at the US Embassy. It provides partner universities with educational resources such as books, maps, periodicals, audio-visual materials and online databases on US policies, society, history, and culture. It aspires to promote cooperation between the US and its partner country. The XU-AC is the first AC established in the Philippines.
