Michael Bucag Roa presented his paper on “Administrative Justice in Local Governance: Impact of Quasi-Judicial Proceedings on Administrative Discipline” at the Philippine Society for Public Administration (PSPA) National Conference, 4-5 October 2012 at the Cebu Normal University, Cebu City. The study was an evaluation of the knowledge, skills and attitude of Human Resources Management Officers (HRMO’s) in relation to administrative discipline, and the readiness of the local government units to handle cases on administrative justice in the province of Bukidnon.
The Conference was sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme, Commission on Human Rights, Association of Schools of Public Administration of the Philippines, Inc. (ASPAP), the Philippine Social Science Council (PSSC), other academic institutions, participating agencies of government and the private sector, and civil society organizations.
Roa is a member of the faculty of the Public Administration Program. He serves as a Special Investigator III of the Civil Service Commission Region 10.
Another Graduate School faculy member Melanie Joy M Bustamante was a Poster Presenter of “Academic Indicators of Success in the Nursing Licensure Examination of Selected Nurse Graduates” at the 53rd Annual Convention and General Assembly of the Association of Deans of Philippine Colleges of Nursing, Inc, held at the Manila Hotel on 3-4 October 2012. The theme of the convention was “ADPCN: Navigating the Waves of Change in Nursing Education.”
The study examined the academic indicators of success in the Nursing Licensure Examination of selected Xavier University graduates, School Years 2008 and 2009. The study was guided by Patricia Benner’s theory “Novice to Expert” which used the Dreyfus Model on the five levels of skill acquisition and development.
Bustamante earned her Master of Arts in Nursing degree at Xavier University. She is a faculty member of the XU College of Nursing. Her mentor, Dr Ramona Heidi C Palad is the Dean of the XU College of Nursing and Program Coordinator of the XU MAN Program.
