The Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan Alumni Association (XU-AAA) has launched the Search for the 2012 Outstanding Alumni. This year’s search is spearheaded by the XU-Ateneo Graduate School Alumni Association in coordination with the University’s Alumni Affairs Office.

A press conference was held on August 1 to formally introduce the search to the public. The awards consist of five categories, namely Professional, Community Service, Government Service, XU-AAA Service and XU-AAA Special Award.

The Outstanding Alumni Award is given to individuals who have contributed to the advancement of their community or the society, and serve as role models in their professional and personal lives. Previous awardees include Cagayan de Oro 2nd district Rep Rufus Rodriguez, former Cebu City Mayor and current Cebu City south district Rep Tommy Osmeña, and Carina Dayondon, the first Filipina to summit Mt Everest.

“We hope that those who will be chosen will become beacons of inspiration to graduates and students of XU,” said Atty Robert Raypon, XU-AAA vice president.

Nominations are open to any XU grade school, high school, college or graduate school alumnus/a. Although anybody can nominate, self-nomination is not allowed. Nominations will be accepted until September 29. The awarding ceremony is set on November 30.
