Xavier University gave formal recognition to its community members who have rendered 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 years of faithful service to the university. Retirees were also honored at the same event.

In his address at the 20th Service Awards held at the Covered Courts on Jan 30, XU President Fr Roberto Yap SJ thanked the awardees and retirees for their long and hard work to make XU a better place.  He also expressed contrition for whatever shortcomings the university might have.

Speaking on behalf of the retirees was Ms May Flores who has been with the Xavier University High School for 38 years. She said her years at XU have taught her to do all things with love and in service. She thanked the Jesuits who have been instrumental in nurturing her passion to teach and to sing. She spoke, too, of some of her students who, like her, have joined XU or have become Jesuits.
