President Benigno Aquino III on Feb 26 visited the community of Xavier Ecoville, the Xavier University-led resettlement neighborhood for Sendong survivors.

Fr Roberto C Yap SJ, president of XU, together with representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways, National Housing Authority, and Department of Social and Welfare Development, welcomed President Aquino. Also present were representatives from Habitat for Humanity Philippines, XU’s partner in building the houses.

The President was given a tour of the Xavier Ecoville model house before he met and addressed the community. He assured them that their concerns will be given proper attention and that he is working closely with the Department of Social and Welfare Development, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority to open up more livelihood opportunities.

“The government has only one goal, that is to serve and take care of its constituents,” President Aquino said.  Too, he appealed for the community’s support.

“Nothing is impossible if we work together,” he said.

The President was in Cagayan de Oro to see some of several ongoing projects of the city.
