Local artists gathered in Xavier University to discuss one of the country's  most awaited visual art competitions, the Philippine Art Awards. Last year, Jericho Valjusto Vamenta, a local artist from Cagayan de Oro and an XUHS alumnus, won the grand prize.

This year, the winners from the regional competition will be receiving P40,000 each. For the National Finals, the Juror’s Choice Award of Merit will be receiving P80,000 each. The Juror’s Choice Award of Excellence will be receiving 120,000 each and the Grand Prize winner will be receiving P350,000. All national winners will be receiving an all-expenses paid trip to an Asian country.
