Xavier University High School alumni numbering thousands have formed a coalition to help guard the integrity of the upcoming midterm elections.

The group, called Crusaders for Hope (Honest, Orderly & Peaceful Elections), on April 9, signed their manifesto expressing support for anti-fraudulent activities by assisting in logistics monitoring, poll watching and election results verification.

In addition, the organization vows to “engage and capacitate Kagayanons… in attaining a clean, honest, orderly, peaceful and meaningful election.” The group aspires for the active involvement of citizens in promoting good governance and in rebuilding Cagayan de Oro as “the most progressive and most dynamic socio-cultural, political and economic hub of Mindanao.”

“We commit ourselves to serve as active stakeholders of local political reforms and set the high standards for good governance,” the manifesto states.

Crusaders for Hope is an affiliate of the National Citizens’ Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL), a partner of the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) and a member of the Kagayanon for Good Governance Movement.

XUHS alumni who wish to be a part of Crusaders for Hope may visit the Alumni Affairs Office at the ground floor of the StC Building, Xavier University or call 858 3116/72 3116 local 3332.
