On 12-16 August 2024, four PhilDev scholars participated in the annual Shell-PhilDev Leadership Camp held in the Eugenio Lopez Center, Rizal.
The slate consisted of Carlos Gabriel Moritcho (BSCS-4), Xander Allen Rola (BSCS-4), Jysel Ashley Ayop (BSIS-3), and Fruee Jane Jaquilmac (BSIT-3).
A welcome dinner commenced on the first day of the camp with 51 PhilDev scholar attendees. On the second and third days, PhilDev scholars broke out into their respective training sessions. Moritcho and Rola participated in the HR workshop for senior scholars while Ayop and Jaquilmac participated in the Leadership Enhancement and Attitude Development (LEAD) for newly inducted PhilDev scholars.
The Shell-PhilDev Leadership Camp came to a close on 15 August 2024 where all PhilDev scholars participated in a panel discussion about Shell, a mental health workshop, and a group mentoring session. PhilDev scholars later on had a culminating program in the evening.
“I met different bright individuals, each with their own distinct personalities. What struck me the most were the diverse stories, experiences, and insights of the participants,” shares PhilDev junior scholar, Fruee Jaquilmac.
Beyond networking, personal connections with fellow campers were also made. Xander Rola, PhilDev senior scholar, expresses his gratitude. “I gained fresh perspectives and knowledge from my fellow scholars,” he explains.
On 16 August 2024, the scholars proceeded to have its first ever plant tour at Analog Devices, Inc (ADI), a semiconductor manufacturing company in General Trias, Cavite. The tour included a panel with experienced ADI employees, project demonstrations, and viewing of facilities.
The next Shell-PhilDev camp is expected to take place in the summer of 2025.
