The Department of Economics and Economics Society of Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan actively participated in the recently concluded Philippine Economic Society (PES) Mindanao Conference held on 14 September 2024, at Ateneo de Davao University.

The event featured Mr Jhon Louie B Sabal, Chairperson of the Department of Economics, as one of the plenary speakers. He was joined by notable speakers such as Dr Agham C Cuevas, President of PES and Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs of University of the Philippines Los Baños, Mr John Carlo Borja Tria, former President of the Davao Chamber of Commerce, Mr Joseph El Roy II B Cassion, a faculty member at Xavier University and Father Saturnino Urios University (FSUU), and Dr Belinda A Candelario, Dean of Arts and Sciences at FSUU.

Around 20 AB Economics Xavier Ateneans participated in the conference, accompanied by Ms Jessica S Cahulogan, faculty member and Xavier Ateneo Economics Society moderator. The event offered valuable insights into the latest economic trends and fostered networking opportunities for students.

Parallel meetings between the Economics Society Organizations and Economics Departments of Xavier Ateneo and Ateneo de Davao University were also held, further strengthening academic collaboration between the two institutions.
