The History/Political Science/International Studies Department is unequivocally proud of Ednell Marie Butalid Alaba, Ameer Sajid Mabang Adzis, Lyza Francheska Suazo Abrogueña, Jitro Rey Excelisce Ora, and Aliyah Niña Alexssandra Acenas Credo of the AB International Studies program at the College of Arts & Sciences and their Research Project Director, Mr Don Antonio Velez, who were participants in the 11th International Conference of the Social Sciences (ICOSS), convened under the theme “Promoting Global Challenges and Social Resilience Through Sustainability” hosted in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The group presented their insights on Collaborative Policy Implementation (CPI) for Sustainable and Resilience Governance in Northern Mindanao. Registration to participate in the conference was generously provided by the College of Arts and Sciences – Parents and Faculty Council (CAS – PFC).

Their research focused on how collaborative policy implementation strategies can serve as catalysts for sustainable social resilience in the region. By participating in the conference, the Xavier Ateneo International Studies students contributed to the global conversation on sustainability and resilience in the nexus of Climate Change and Disaster Resilience. The academic work undertaken by the group provides valuable insights into how multi-actor partnerships and collaborative policy implementation can be effective tools for addressing the challenges facing Northern Mindanao.
