Planting hope, nurturing the future. As part of Nursing Week 2025, XU Nursing students teamed up with XU Atiman Kinaiyahan, SIAP, and the Campus of the Future team to sow “seeds of change.” Here’s to teamwork and a shared commitment to caring for our environment!

The council emphasized the significance of the activity, noting that their participation extended beyond duty to become a heartfelt act of compassion. By contributing to this greening initiative, they reinforced the university’s commitment to environmental preservation and social accountability.

The students’ efforts were supported by key collaborators, including Mr Nestor Banuag of SIAP, Dr Ann Charlette Cabana, and Engr Lennie Ong from the Campus of the Future Development Office. The council expressed their gratitude for the unwavering support and guidance provided throughout the activity.

Participants reflected on the profound impact of their actions. Angel Dagalea, a Level 2 student, shared, “Our small actions now will translate into a big effect in the future. Removing weeds and cleaning the area might seem simple, but these nurtured seedlings will grow into trees that contribute to the environment and encourage more efforts for its betterment.”

Meanwhile, Level 4 student Gladys Meijas highlighted the long-term benefits of tree planting, noting, “Planting these trees provides shade and strengthens the ground, preventing calamities like landslides and flash floods. This activity is fulfilling and humbling, and I’m glad to have achieved this alongside my co-student nurses.”

Through their participation, the students not only contributed to environmental restoration but also strengthened their sense of teamwork and responsibility. This meaningful initiative is a testament to Xavier University’s dedication to shaping compassionate, competent, and socially accountable individuals committed to building a sustainable future.
