Fr Mars P Tans SJ sharing his message
In his welcome message, Fr Mars P Tan, SJ, expressed his excitement that the design development would soon begin. He conveyed his confidence that the architectural design selected by the committee was the best choice. It incorporates the traditional Ateneo Hail Mary colors, reflects the academic seriousness of the building's structure, and features playful elements, all aimed at enhancing the learning experience for grade school pupils. Additionally, he noted that the One XUGS building represents XU’s commitment to addressing the increasing number of students following the XUGS Consolidation Project.
The One XUGS building will be constructed on the former site of the Preschool and Kostka buildings at Pueblo Campus. Engr George Abasolo, the Project Manager for the Campus Development Office, describes the three-story building as a progressive structure with plans for a fourth story. It will feature classrooms, laboratories, offices, and a library. Additionally, the building will adopt an eco-architectural approach, incorporating environmentally sensitive features such as a sewage treatment plant, a stormwater catchment system, solar-powered rooftops, and a cistern tank to minimize environmental impact.
Arch Jon Michael Ang delivering his message
In response, Arch Jon Michael Ang, UAP, expressed his commitment to fully dedicate himself to this design project. It holds a special place in his heart, and being part of it has rekindled his long-lost passion for making a positive impact on the lives of parents, educators, and students. This opportunity allows him to contribute to enhancing and elevating the quality of education offered by the Xavier University educational system.
In the coming days, a series of activities related to the design process will take place between Xavier University and Uni Vista Corporation. The meeting featured the signing of the MOU between Xavier University and Uni Vista Corporation, the signing of the Notice to Proceed, and the turnover of the engineering documents.
An architecturally designed building not only provides a beautiful façade of the building but also plays a vital role in the students' learning. It provides them with a conducive space to study and learn in a safe, functional, and comfortable space. Hence, it aids them in achieving their highest potential.
